Starke industries was founded in 1994. There was a huge demand to localize automotive components as a results of the DTI initiatives. We started of in GA-Rankuwa by that time focusing on the leather trim industry as well as the emissions industry. Our role was to combine the local component manufacturers with larger international suppliers which arrived later on in the market and are currently the 1st tier suppliers in this industry.
In the first five years we mainly focused on jig's and fixtures for quality purposes and all tooling for the local automotive industry. Five years later we started automation of the equipment. Local OEM increased the capacity from 63 cars a day to 350 within the next decade. We also assisted local component manufacturers to relocate from different locations all over Gauteng to a central automotive hub that is currently the (SEZ) in Rosslyn.
